Handbag Design Process:

For smaller clients I usually submit work in stages (see below). The client will confirm details / suggest any desired amendments at each stage before submitting a final 'Factory Tech' for the client to send to their chosen factory (or various factories) for sampling and costing.

For larger clients I'm usually asked to iniciate new products based on current trends and submit final techs only.

Design Brief:

Smaller clients usally provide me with a design brief (Microsoft Word doc), which will include visual inspiration images, along with a list of desired features (shape, fabrication, pockets, compartments / inside details etc..) for each product.

Larger clients will provide me with a more general / open brief,  where they will specify a target customer and request me to initate new product ranges based on either their brand handwriting / current styling,  or new / directional fashion trends.

However, there is no 'fixed formula' for how I work with clients. The design process and communication methods vary greatly from client to client and is one of the exciting things about working in design.

Manufacturing and sample making:

Please note that I am a design service only and do not deal in sample making or the manufacturing side of the process. Clients will need to source their own manufacturer (who generally provide a sample making service also) and arrange prototypes / sampling with them directly.
